The procedure aims to treat excess size of the labia, tissue redundancy or asymmetrical appearance.
Before the surgery, ensure that your vulval area is clean by twice daily showers for a few days. The operation may be performed under a general or local anaesthetic. In cases where a general anaesthetic is used, you will be asleep during the procedure. The exact nature of the surgical plan will be discussed with you during the consultation.
After the procedure you should feel minimal discomfort because of the local anaesthetic injected into the area during the surgery. Once this wears off, you may feel some mild pain that should be treated with simple painkillers. On discharge from hospital, wear a panty pad which is changed regularly and clean yourself gently with soap and water.
