Pierced earlobes sometimes stretch or may even split through completely. This is relatively common, particularly for women who have worn heavy earrings. The treatment is simple and is performed under local anaesthesia and usually completely eliminates the stretched piercing hole or split lobe and leaves a small scar on the ear instead.
The piercing can be redone once the wounds have healed, but not through the scar that has been produced by the surgery to correct the split.
